Women in Construction Spotlight: Marianne Greene

At SB Thomas & Associates, we know that strong, dedicated women are essential to shaping the future of construction. As part of Women in Construction (WIC) Week, we’re spotlighting the talented professionals who help our company thrive. Today, we introduce Marianne Greene, a Project Coordinator whose attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to excellence ensure our projects run smoothly. Learn more about her journey and what inspires her to succeed in this dynamic industry.

How did you get started in a career in construction?

Years ago, Sheree and I worked together as procurement specialists for a government-funded company (sharing a “cubicle” wall). Afterward, we went our separate ways for several years until Sheree launched SB Thomas.  A few years after SBT was established, Sheree contacted me  looking for assistance in grant writing, grant administration, construction administration, or basically anything “SBT” at that time. It was an easy “yes” and over the past 13+ years, I’ve learned a great deal about construction since joining the SBT team.

What is your role with SB Thomas?

Project Coordinator

What do you like about working for SB Thomas (a woman-owned and operated company)?

I really enjoy the people I work with and the variety of projects I get to be part of.  No two days are the same!

Any advice you would give to a young woman considering a career in construction?

Construction is a rewarding industry because it allows you to see the tangible results of your hard work. There are several paths you can take in the construction industry (inspectors, project managers, coordinators, to site a few) – all careers that showcase unique perspectives women can bring to the industry.
