Project Overview:
In the initial year (2018), the Capital Roads program involved primarily paving, drainage improvements, and base repairs along various roads. The 2019 Capital Roads Reconstruction project spanned 2-years (2019 – 2020), totaled more than $12M, and encompassed the reconstruction of several roads including milling, paving, pavement markings, stormwater drainage, and guiderail work, one small bridge preservation, the construction of three DuraHold walls, two large slide repairs, and one soldier beam and lagging wall. In 2021, the Capital Roads program included paving, drainage, base repairs, and other safety improvements and in 2022 and 2023, the Capital Roads program includes paving, drainage, and base repairs along various roadways and a lateral support walls.
Project Role:
SB Thomas & Associates provides CM/CI services. We have staffed these projects with a Transportation Construction Manager (TCM) who is responsible to oversee four or five on-site inspectors. These inspectors conduct daily on-site inspections, complete daily inspection reports, provide photo documentation, calculate actual quantities of work completed, monitor the contractor’s progress, prepare monthly pay estimates, and review and respond to submittals and RFI among other functions.
