Construction Amount: $2.0 million

Under a 5-year on-call construction management and inspection (CM/CI) contract with Allegheny County Department of Public Works, SB Thomas was assigned a task order to provide CM/CI services on the Pine Creek Bridge (PI09) replacement project. This $2 million bridge replacement project involved removal of the existing structure, construction of new pile and pre-cast concrete lateral support walls, and construction of the new bridge. This project was highly visible and was successfully completed ahead of schedule much to the satisfaction of Allegheny County Department of Public Works and Shaler Township.
On this project, SB Thomas provided daily on-site supervision and inspection staffing that monitored the contractors’ compliance with the contract documents, attended progress meetings, prepared daily inspection reports, uploaded progress photos, took measurements and performed calculations, prepared monthly pay estimates, generated PCNs and change orders, tracked, logged, and reviewed contractor submittals and requests for information (RFI) and more. SB Thomas inspection staff worked with the ACDPW Project Manager and the contractor to address scheduling difficulties due to numerous utility relocations (water, gas, sanitary) and COVID-19 restrictions in order open the bridge to traffic before the original scheduled completion date of December 30, 2020.
